Job Opportunity - Youth Theatre Making Facilitator

Castlemaine Theatre Company is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Youth Facilitator. We have joined forces with Mount Alexander Shire to deliver a series of weekly theatre-making workshops with a performance outcome. The workshops will go throughout term 3 with a performance at the end of term. This is a paid position.

CTC Youth Theatre Lab Facilitator Position Description

Role

You will guide the group through a process of devising a performance and act as the overall director of the project. This should combine fun and safe warm-ups and team-building exercises, with clear and accessible processes to build content for the performance, and general acting and theatre skills.

Key Selection Criteria

  • You have a combination of experience and training in working with young people and devising theatre.
  • You have a current Victorian Working with Children Check.
  • You are open to collaboration and creating opportunities for the participants to have ownership in creating their own work.
  • You have proven organisational capacity.
  • You have practical experience working on theatrical productions.
  • You can stick to a schedule and keep an overarching eye on the project.

Hours

2 hours a week contact, plus 8 hours of prep (total for the project), plus additional hours in the lead up to performance, to be agreed on at the outset of the project. This is an 8-week stand-alone pilot program, with a view to continuing the workshops on an on-going basis during school terms (90min sessions). You will be initially contracted just for the pilot program.

Participants

The project will be for participants aged 13-18. There will be a minimum of 8 participants and a maximum of 16.

Reporting to

You will be reporting to the CTC Committee. A member of the Committee will be in attendance to open and close the space, and provide support as required. The CTC Committee will provide additional production and promotion support for the performance outcome, agreed between us at the outset of the project.

Pay:

$55 per/hour plus 12% superannuation

You will need an ABN as we will be engaging you as a contractor.
